12 Amazing Illustrations by Production Designer Greg Leguire

December 21, 2017

Allow us to introduce you to Greg Leguire, one of our super awesome, super-talented production designers.

His passion for visual communication and web development helps him excel at all-things design focused. A graduate of The College of Saint Rose, his work has been featured in Air National Guard advertisements and in apparel design for Coney Island Brewing Company. Casual.

He’s always had an interest in illustrating, taking art lessons growing up. But it was when he discovered flip-book animation that his passion took off.

Greg can turn any idea or thing into a work of art. He’ll illustrate your family portraits, your cat, your favorite authors—the list goes on and on. At CCA, he’s done amazing work for our partners—including Concordia University-Portland, Concordia University, Nebraska, and more. Here are some of his favorite (and our favorite) illustrations.

For Concordia University, Nebraska.

For our CCA Saratoga Track Day this year.

The illustrations below for Concordia University-Portland appeared on blogs, website pages, and in advertisements. (How great is that glitter dress?)

“Being able to mix both fine art and graphic design works well in the work I do with Concordia University-Portland,” Greg said.

“The illustrations and animations I’ve created so far for Concordia have an unfinished quirkiness to them that brings back the initial feeling I had when I first discovered flip book animations and that I could make my illustrations come to life.”

“As for process, a lot of people don’t realize how much time it takes to make a character move. Each subtle arm or leg movement in these animations are individual drawings—this gives the viewer a sense of stop motion.”

“We started the brand animations with individual drawings in PhotoShop. These 3- to 6-second clips have somewhere between 20 and 30 drawings to make up those few seconds.”

“Now, we’re moving in the direction of using Adobe After Effects to our advantage, which will speed up the process of animating each character and allow us to push the boundaries of what can be done.”

“It’s super exciting to be a part of this and I look forward to where brand animations will be a year from now.”
