Quick Takes: Colleen’s Favorite Font and More
Partnering with CCA means working with the best of the best. That includes Colleen Hukey, our Senior Digital Art Director.
Colleen is ridiculously knowledgeable on all things digital design and obsesses over metrics, results, and best practices to make sure everything she touches or reviews leads to connections and conversions.

Your college & major:
I spent my freshman year at Quinnipiac University but ultimately graduated from SUNY Oneonta with my degree in Computer Art.
What got you into design?
When I realized I cared way more about the design and layout of my poster boards and display boards in grade school than I did about the subject they were on.
Weirdest thing you’ve ever been asked to design:
A Zamboni wrap. That was weird.
Most memorable project you worked on before CCA:
Redesigning the box office spaces at the Times Union Center in Albany with a Capital Bank sponsorship takeover.
Most memorable project you’ve worked on so far at CCA:
Designing Wheaton College’s viewbook—my first large print piece in a while, and my first institutional viewbook ever. It was fun to get back into the print world for a bit!
Got a design pet peeve?
When a hyphen is used to split a word between two lines in an ad (or any marketing piece really). It hurts my eyes.
Got a favorite font?
Gotham has been a favorite of mine since the beginning. I love to pair it with a delicate serif or fun handwritten typeface.
Best part about working in higher ed:
College is such a big part of an individual’s life. It is hard for most students to know what they want to do and where they want to be. It is really fulfilling to be able to incorporate our learnings and experiences into our work and create amazing pieces that bring so much value to our clients.
Best part about our office being in Troy:
Within just a few blocks, we have endless lunch and coffee options. It’s a great place to step outside for a quick walk or enjoy a break with my colleagues (friends).
Favorite restaurant(s) in the Capital Region:
Tough choice, but I’d have to go with 15 Church or Hamlet & Ghost in Saratoga Springs.
Last place you traveled to:
Newport, Rhode Island
Latest TV show obsession:
Anything and everything Bravo.
How would you describe the CCA team:
A truly genuine group of people. We’re all passionate about our work and our clients but also make it a point to enjoy what we do together every single day.
